Hi all. My name is Mick. I'm primarily a scientific glassblower as it pays the bills for me but I also like to make a little artistic stuff from time to time. Or should I say when I have the time. Laughing

I'm 33 years old and I've been glassblowing for 15 years but I only discovered coloured borosilicate about 3 years ago.

I've created this forum for all of the Australian flameworkers out there. I intend it to be a way of keeping in contact with each other, discussing glassblowing, showing our work and pretty much anything flamework related.

Enjoy.

hey Mike,
thanks for setting this up, I've toyed with the idea of a flameworking forum before, but just don't have the time. There's so many beadmaking forums around and none of them really feel like home. I'll send a round mail and let people know you're here. Let me be the first to wish you all the best running this one!
cheers
Chris

Hey Chris. Great to see you here. I'm not sure how this is going to go but what the hell......thought I'd have a crack at it anyway.

I'm going to try and work out how to create a gallery on here for everyone to post up pics and stuff.

Any other ideas? Other forum sections etc?

Any input is always appreciated. Very Happy

why do I keep calling you Mike? It's an affliction! there's a guy (one of our suppliers) who keeps calling a friend of mine Les, even though his name's Tim ....
maybe you add another section in the marketplace with seperate threads for listing glassblower's websites, a suppliers list, glass galleries and exhibitions etc which may be pertinent to us.
cheers
Chris

Hi Mick and Chris,

Firstly, good on ya for getting this up and running Mick ..
I look forward to talking glass with you, and thanks for letting me know about it Chris, I'll pass the word around.

I blow glass full time here in Lismore NSW. Mostly artistic work with boro.

I'm sure this site will prove to be a great resource for the Aussie Flameworking movement..

Kind regards,

AL..

hey guys,
great to see an aussie forum, thanks mick. i have recently moved to the riverland of SA from massachusetts. ive been working with boro for around 7 years but never had my own equipment so i have had little actual torch time until i moved here. i built a studio and invested in all my gear. now i have little free time and never get on the torch enough. Crying or Very sad ive only worked boro, no soft glass and, no offence to anyone, dont intend to. i keep it simple on a national 3a running off two oxy concentrators but have a barracuda to crank it up when i need to but prefer to stay small untill i get a better setup. i hope this forum brings anyone out there together to share ideas and thoughts, the more we toss around the more we inovate. Idea oh yea chris arnold sent me, an online friend started a thread about aussie lampworkers and chris chimed in and let us in on this site, thanks chris. and hey, alan nice reticellos, i saw your work on a bead site, cant wait till mine are that tight.

the juice

Mick thanks for starting up the forum. Every time I come on here and see Micks name, I get this song stuck in my head http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=opDxX2TuXOs
